Laion is presumed to be the native town of Walter von der Vogelweide since in Ried there also is the Vogelweiderhof-farm. On the other side of the valley you find the castle “Trostburg”, which was home of the famous poet Oswald von Wolkenstein. There are also many more fortresses, castles and museums in South Tyrol which are more than worth it to visit! Everything is easily reachable by public services and the Val Gardena Mobilcard.
